SPORT PROGRAMS

Mackellar Girls Campus can boast a proud record of individual and group achievement. This was highlighted by our school being named the Champion Sports School in the whole Sydney North Region (from North Sydney to Wyong) in 2018 and 2019. The school students are regularly featured in print media for their outstanding achievement in a wide variety of sports. These have included many ex-students from Mackellar who have gone on to achieve excellence in the international sporting arena.

When students enrol at Mackellar, they are placed in House group based alphabetically by surname. House names have been created based on the aboriginal meanings of local Australian native birds:

-        Beaubau (blue) King Parrot

-        Gullary (green) White Crane

-        Moolgori (red) Black Swan

-        Tingee (yellow) Black Cockatoo

Students compete in their house groups for Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics Carnivals.

REPRESENTATIVE SPORTS

Students can trial to compete against other schools at a Zone, Regional and State level in Knockout Sports competitions, Gala days, and a vast range of Sports and Physical Activities

YEAR 7 & 8 INTEGRATED SPORTS PROGRAMS

YEAR 9 & 10 COMPETITIVE AND RECREATIONAL SPORTS PROGRAMS

Students have compulsory sport on Wednesday afternoons. Students are able to select Recreational Sports using local venues and instructors and/or Competitive Sports to play against other schools in the North Shore Zone.

YEAR 11 PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Our senior students are given more independence to access physical activities during the year. They are expected and participate in physical activities on Friday mornings during a designated period. Senior students are also expected to attend all compulsory sports carnival and activities. Additional hours can be achieved by becoming involved in inter-school and external sporting activities.
